The project was a substantial infrastructure project intended to improve Borneo's transport network. Lebuhraya Borneo Utara commissioned this project, which the Perunding IRIZ Consortium administered, with a budget of RM 600 million. Construction started in 2014 and successfully concluded in 2016.
The primary goal of this project was to build a critical stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway, notably between Telok Melano and Sematan. This highway is a critical component of the larger plan to increase connectivity across Borneo, allowing for improved mobility of people and products while also supporting regional economic growth.
The project largely entailed considerable civil engineering work to guarantee that the highway met high safety, durability, and efficiency requirements. This package's completion marks an important milestone in the Pan Borneo Highway, helping to achieve the region's overall infrastructure and development goals.
